The Kenya Crusade - September, 2004

I will insert as many photographs as I can,
on this page and the following pages, of each town
and village that we travelled to during these Crusades.
Not all of the photographs came out due to the time
of day and light conditions.  I did not always
have someone available to take photographs, so many
are of poor quality and many just did not develope right.

I shall begin with the first week of Crusade meetings in the
Town of Webuye, Kenya East Africa.

WEBUYE, KENYA

Above are the pictures of Mrs. Penina Simiyu, Pastor Simiyu
and me (Rev. William Cordaro) as I arrived at their home
on September 7, 2004.  The next picture is of
Penina and Rev. Chris's children.

The above pictures are of the Power
Gospel Ministry School and Office showing Pastor Simiyu
(with the hat) and Rev. Robert.
The next picture shows some of the children at the school.

Here are the pictures of the rest of
the students at Power Gospel Ministry School.

The above picture shows part of the Webuye Marketplace.
This is just a short way from where we held the Crusade.
The Marketplace is a vital part of life in Kenya.
Very few homes have electricity, therefore, most have
no lights at night, no way to refrigerate foods to keep
them fresh, no televisions or radios unless they are
battery operated and no running water.
If families have enough money with which to purchase
gas powered generators to operate lights, water pumps,
refrigerators and televisions they have those comforts.
Most people use candles or propane camp lights to see
at night, few have flashlights because of the cost of
batteries to operate them with.

The people have no real jobs and many who can find some
temporary employment find that they are not paid by the
employers at the end of the work week.  Travel
is difficult, at best, because the roads are almost
non-existant, and the few paved roads are in dire need
of repairs.  The main mode of transportation
in Kenya is walking or bicycling.  Only the
large cities, such as Nairobi, have electricity and
paved, maintained roads and once you get about 25 km
from the main cities the roads become rugged, pot-hole
filled, and not fit for vehicular traffic.
